Know Your Skincare: Reviews.com Best Facial Cleansers
One of my dear friends asked me recently to help her with her skin care and makeup, since I'm the "girly" one in the friendship. I started rattling off my routine and skin types and what to look for and she just responded by putting her hands up and saying "teach me your ways!" with her eyes wide.
With all the hype out there about ingredients, chemicals, and the growing number of people with sensitive skin, not to mention the sheer number of options now, it can be a little overwhelming to find the right cleanser and skin care routine for you. Sometimes it may feel easier to just keep using what you have been or suffer through using a product that isn’t right for your skin. But you shouldn’t have to suffer! It’s easy and so rewarding to get a great skin care routine going.
Here we go....Step 1---Remove Makeup and Wash Your Face. Taking off the dirt, oil, grime, makeup and everything else is paramount! Just rinsing with water isn't going to do much, you need an actual cleanser to remove the build up and get rid of the gunk that sits on your skin and clogs your pores(makeup and pollution alike). So the next question is; what cleanser do you use? Well you're in luck! I found a great resource from Reviews.com that walks you through finding the best one for you amidst all the chaos that is the beauty aisle and Sephora!
The logical "Step 1-A" is Know Your Skincare! Sometimes, you just need to switch things up a bit. You attempt a new hair style, and play around with a new fashion trend. But with skincare, you need a little more than just a passing thought of "oh lets give that a whirl!" If you have sensitive skin, or are wary of certain ingredients, you know the drill. You read the labels, read reviews, ask for advice from your dermatologist and friends. Information is power! The last thing you want to do is waste money on something that doesn't work for you. Or worse, makes your skin angry at you. Dry, irritated, breaking out...we've all been there.
I do a lot of research to figure out if something will work for me. Reviews.com's article "Best Facial Cleansers" is a GREAT resource to use if you are looking to get a new one, or think your skin is ready for something different. Reviews.com took a lot of time, and did all the dirty work for you (literally caking on makeup and then testing all the different cleansers), to get all the info for this article. When they asked me to take a look, I was seriously impressed! They put 300 of the best selling facial cleansers through what I can only describe as a battle royale of tests, inspections and more.
One of the best parts about the Reviews.com article is the voice, it's just so fun to read! Who knew that a face wash could make you consider moving to Iceland?! * you'll get it when you read the article*
Not all cleansers are created equal, and no two people have the same sort of needs when it comes to skin care. What works best for me may not work at all for you. The article makes mention of phrases like "if your skin..." or "if you are" to really get you as the reader to consider your own skin and your own goals/priorities. Not only that, but I loved how Reviews.com broke down all their criteria and really focused on facts and science rather than the "hype" or pop culture aspect of skin care. They breakdown why some ingredients get a bad reputation, and why they may or may not deserve them. They even interviewed two experts; a Dermatologist and an Aesthetician! Reviews.com found the face washes that work best to remove all your makeup and helped the skin feel soft, soothed and looking great.
All in all, it's a great place to start learning about skincare and the different options out there or even to just expand your knowledge as well. Many of my favorites were on the list, but also a few that I had looked at but never purchased because of one reason or another. And even some that I had never heard of before but am seriously considering trying out now! Washing your face is step one, then you can dive into toners and serems and more. But without a clean slate, you can't do much. Start fresh, start clean and you'll be all set!
Here is what you should take away from this: Don’t let new things or the fact that you may not be a skincare fanatic scare you away from treating your skin with the respect and love that it deserves. Your face is what the world sees, take care of it! And then once you have their attention, blow them away with your amazing intellect and other incredible skills and talents :)
Go check out the article “Best Facial Cleansers” and let me know if any of your favorites made the top lists! Did you learn anything new that has changed the way you shop for skincare?
One last piece of knowledge before you go….don’t forget to moisturize! Your skin needs it!
